Youtube videos
Youtube is a bit addictive especially for funny stuff, the Catherine Tate clip is a classic, Daniel Craig is ...well what can I say?
Podcasting
this has always intimidated me but again it's not as difficult as I imagined, my new subs are..."Buffy between the lines" ...sounds good...."a serialized, podcast fanfic audio drama written, produced and created by fans for fans. Each season will bring you 12 (or so) episodes in classic radio drama fashion.", "Double feature" a weird sort of film reviewing type podcast and "Much ado about books" radio interviews with authors. If santa brings me an IPOD i am going to be busy.
Library Thing
my widget worked {finally..thanks to Theary} there's a small group of some of my favourite books although I must say I felt some self imposed pressure not to include some of my less intellectual favourites {romances by Amanda Quick and Loretta Chase and cosy crime} LibraryThing is a lot of fun and chock-a-block full of stuff... i can see myself using it unlike some of the other things I've joined during this program........
i'm realising that as I suspected i'm a book-tragic and i'm not witty enough to twitter or organised enough to read all my bloglines stuff...but at least now I know about all these things.

"productivity"
Eventbrite has been remarkably trouble free in use at the libraries considering it is quite a change from people ringing up or racing in frantically to get tickets for the school holiday programs. It's definitely an improvement. Zamzar looks good with very simple, clear instructions and I can imagine suggesting this to library users who need such a service. Googledocs is innovative and practical, excellent for group work as students often study off campus and may live in different states to others in their study groups. igoogle is useful too with lots of relevant info on one page as soon as you sit down. So....all this stuff is handy, useful, practical blah, blah blah but things looked a bit more exciting when I realised the Web 2.0 awards had a retail category, ahhhhhh shopping spent too much time looking at the tshirts on Threadless.com i really want one of those ones that says books are good for you maybe that could be our uniform however they are out of stock and the only way they will do a new "print run" is if they get enough people emailing them to register their interest...so take a look and if you like it let them know...i wasn't so fussed by Lulu, I know of a number of book sites I would much rather visit.

Del.icio.us.... not so tasty?
Del.icio.us was not overly compelling, I found the set up a bit unwieldy and I don't feel like it's something I will use, technorati on the other hand is great, i love being able to search in that way and found myself spending ages exploring blogs I would never have otherwise found.
Stumbling upon a Cheeky Frankfurt
week 6 fun stuff
stumbleupon is fun to use I enjoyed the mapping of a cat's brain, kitchen hints such as how to tell if an egg is fresh and the perfect macaroni cheese recipe however the slightly unnerving picture of a frankfurt peeking out of a pastry casing accompanied by a saucy comment made me decide it was time to move on...or perhaps choose more lofty categories.
last.fm was also fun and the musicians/singers you may enjoy if you like.....seemed spot on unlike some of the writers matched up in the ref desk copy of who writes like.

mashups
hang on right there, those librarian trading cards freaked me out, i don't think mashups are for me
flickr

just a photo chosen at random from flickr to practise....{Henry Cavill from "The Tudors" in case you're wondering}i could spend hours looking at flickr......
our cat is still too shy to sit still for photos but I found one that looks like her and also an image of a book I read recently and loved The Other Hand by Chris Cleave , I can't think of any of my friends who would not think this book is great but i can't tell you anything about it.

rss feeds seem like a great idea and are much easier to manage than i imagined.....it was a challenge to choose useful, entertaining and worthy sites in order to really target the info i will be getting and it will be interesting to see how much I use this amazing tool and what I get from it. I can see how it could be a useful work tool bit I can also see how I could spend lots of time late at night with a cup of tea or a glass of red looking at just one more thing....although this may be better than spending time on ebay......

facebook, twitter et al....
I've had alook at facebook etc and signed up to twitter but I still don't really get these social networking sites probably because i'm socially stunted, the thought of someone from Doncaster High year of 1980 contacting me to catch up fills me with fear..having said that I can see how Facebook can be great to keep in touch with people you really do want to have contact with although twitter's allure still escapes me..I feel too much pressure to write something funny or profound so I think i'll pass.

this is my first serious foray into blogging/ninging type stuff, I am a bit lame in the technology area overall, I only got a mobile phone because for years I drove a daewoo which broke down every few weeks and always late at night, in the rain & in the middle of nowhere and my mum spent all her waking hours worrying about me...i don't know my mobile number and i don't know how to text plus I jog with an AM/FM radio and headphones that go over your head as the little bud ones hurt my ears...so no IPOD as yet....however I did buy the aforementioned radio on ebay {which I love....a bit too much}
